In an effort to provide a safer environment for the local community, Street Soccer Scotland’s Change Centre in Dundee has welcomed the installation of a Zoll 3 AED Fully Automatic Defibrillator at the multi-purpose facility on South Road. The AED is stored in a stainless steel, heated cabinet on the notice board and is accessible 24/7 to anyone who may need it.
The decision to install the AED in a public space aligns with the Change Centre Dundee social mission to serve the community in the best way possible. The centre is open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, but with a variety of available activities around the area, it was essential to ensure the equipment was accessible 24/7. The AED is an essential piece of equipment that can mean the difference between life and death in an emergency situation.
Change Centre Dundee, along with the Rotary Club of Dundee and NCR, funded the installation of the AED. Change Centre staff at the centre have also undergone specific AED training from ProVision Fire and Safety, gaining a QA Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation.

Scott Hollinshead, Business Development Manager for Change Centre Dundee said “To have an accessible AED can mean the difference between life and death, and we want to ensure that Change Centre Dundee continues to serve the local community. We place safety and community at the heart of all our activity, and to have such a piece of equipment ready at the time of an emergency provides everyone the best chance of survival. We have also provided specific AED training to the staff at the centre to help provide thorough knowledge, so thank you to Keith at ProVision Fire and Safety for giving us an extra level of understanding.”
In addition to the installation of the AED, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) video will be played across the centre on screens to further educate the public on the importance of AEDs. The installation of the AED at the Change Centre demonstrates the commitment of Street Soccer Scotland and its partners to providing a safe and inclusive environment for the community.
