Join us around the capital with Team Street Soccer pleased to be part of the Kiltwalk in Edinburgh, this September.
With every £1 raised, topped up by 50% from the Hunter Foundation, there has never bene a better time to get involved and help us create positive change through football.
We spoke to previous Kitwalker, Holly Blackham, who told us that the experience of walking with Street Soccer during 2020’s Virtual Kiltwalk was really memorable.
“I heard about Street Soccer through my Dad’s work colleague who was looking for support for the Big Dribble last year in 2020. I love football and play for Hutchison Vale under 16s. Street Soccer Scotland use football to help people with any challenges they have in life, such as homelessness and mental health. So this was an opportunity to combine something I love whilst doing something positive for local people during the Covid-19 period.”
Holly helped raise over £700 by being part of the team that walked through the night on the Big Dribble. She highlights that the support she received throughout made it a terrific experience.
“The support during the walk was great. I walked a night time segment and it was great fun getting up in the middle of the night and getting to see a different side of Edinburgh. We met Street Soccer and the group doing the previous leg of the Aberdeen to Hampden walk. It was really well organised and they checked in on us frequently to make sure we were doing fine throughout the Big Dribble. Everyone was friendly and they made sure we got home safely too. I would love to try and do something like that again.”
With Covid restrictions now a thing of the past, the Kiltwalk has returned in its full format for 2022 and will take place across Edinburgh on Sunday September 18th. After being part of Team Street Soccer at such a young age, Holly has urged anyone interested to give it a go.
“I think Street Soccer have got some great things going on and I’d like to help support that. I would say to anyone thinking about signing up to go for it! It’s a great experience and it’s lots of fun. You’ll make some great memories as well as doing something positive.”
