International football fever sweeps through North Ayrshire

As the 2023 Street Soccer Nations Cup comes to a close, a whole new chapter starts for over 70 female players from across Europe.

Players, staff and volunteers spoke of the powerful community that backed one another at every opportunity this past weekend. All eight teams played with immense spirit and portrayed the beautiful game in its purest form – no judgement, no fear and unconditional support.

It was a significant weekend for the women’s game worldwide and that didn’t miss Largs. The fantastic facility at Largs Thistle Football Club played host to two days of excellent on-pitch action and some magic moments outside of it, too.

With trophy success for Romania and also for Scotland, the party atmosphere was never far away. There was highlights from Team Ireland, incredible spirit from Team England, as well as terrific showings from Sweden and Northern Ireland.

A big thanks to our event partners at sportscotland, who’s fantastic facility in Inverclyde allowed our players to feel safe and well-rested across the weekend. A thanks again to Largs Thistle for their hospitality, as well as a massive shout out to our sponsors Burness Paull Foundation and The Malcolm Group for their extended support for Team Scotland.

The 2023 Street Soccer Nations Cup created new memories, new friendships and for some, a new journey. You can read more about the event and what’s to come next, online. Keep an eye on our social media channels to witness the story of the weekend.
