It’s an exciting new chapter for everyone involved at Change Centre Dundee as construction started this week on two brand new outdoor five-a-side pitches.
The astro pitches, which will be situated at the former bowling green in front of the centre, will be integral to the development of Street Soccer programmes at the Change Centre and will extend our services further to the public. With the development expected to be complete in early 2024, we are extremely excited to bring the local community closer together, continuing to strive for positive change through football.
The project is backed and funded by our friends at sportscotland, The Scottish Government, Scottish Football Partnership Trust and Dundee City Council and we are grateful for their ongoing support. The project has been supported by Biffa, Tayside Contracts, Trades for All and our very own Street Soccer volunteers.
One volunteer who has been involved heavily, David Myles, spoke of his delight at being part of the project, saying “It has been great working on this wee project down at the Change Centre Dundee. I love giving back to the community and this particular project is important for the team, so they can continue the great work they are doing for the city, delivering amazing football sessions for those in need.”
Change Centre manager, Scott Hollinshead, said “we are excited to progress into the next chapter of the centres development with construction work now started to provide two 3G 5-a-side pitches. It has been a thorough process to ensure that we are providing the best facilities for the local community and to enhance the services that we currently deliver. Thank you to everyone that has been part of the journey so far and we look forward to sharing the developments in due course.”
Our contractor SIS Pitches are hard at work – despite the ongoing storms across the area – and we will be providing updates across the coming months. We would also like to thanks those involved in achieving the planning permission for the project, with special mentions to Katie Crerar (KC Planning), SA McGregor, Sky Revolutions , Soil Technics and Alan Wood & Partners Ltd.
With two more pitches, we are confident we can grow our impact within the local community and continue to build our free football programmes for players of all ages. Keep your eyes peeled on Change Centre Dundee social channels for updates.
