Street Soccer Scotland will be hosting an international women’s football tournament, this August, in Largs.
The Street Soccer Nations Cup will return for its second year, taking place at Barrfields Park, home of Largs Thistle Football Club.
Teams will compete in a Homeless World Cup format with eight different nations expected to arrive in Largs for the weekend of 18th, 19th and 20th of August.
Street Soccer Scotland are extremely grateful for the support of North Ayrshire Council, as well as sportscotland, who will be providing accommodation for all nations at their state of the art facility on Burnside Road. A big thank you also goes to Largs Thistle, for inviting us to use their fantastic venue, which is home to the West of Scotland Premier Division side.
The event presents a chance for Street football participants across the continent to proudly represent their nations in an international tournament. This opportunity holds immense potential to transform lives and demonstrate the profound influence and concrete positive changes that sport can bring.
By bringing this event to North Ayrshire, where our Network Programme will be launching shortly, we hope to showcase the remarkable impact football programmes such as our own can have on communities around the globe. The challenges encountered by our players resonate with countless others worldwide and we firmly believe that by uniting, joining forces, and exchanging these shared experiences, we can foster connections, instil hope, inspire joy, and nurture self-confidence.
With our men’s team having just completed a life-changing week in Sacramento for the Homeless World Cup, we believe that it is important for our female players to also have these experiences. Our Street45 programme continues to grow and allows women to have empowerment over their choices in sport. News on our Team Scotland squad for the Women’s Street Soccer Nations Cup will be revealed in due course.
Joining us for this years event will be our friends from England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Sweden. We are very excited to welcome all these nations back for their second tournament in Scotland and are looking forward to announcing more participating nations in the coming weeks.
