WOMEN INSPIRED / 03.03.23

Street Soccer Scotland’s Women Inspired event returned on March 3rd for a powerful afternoon

The event was launched in 2019 to allow sports icons, female business leaders and people of influence the chance to unite for one afternoon to celebrate International Women’s Day. This event aims to unite and inspire guests from across Scotland’s business landscape.

Over 300 guests were inspired, educated and entertained by some amazing speakers. UK sports icon Dame Kelly Holmes shared her journey to Olympic gold and how she is now finding happiness in being her true self.

Street Soccer players past and present shared how football became family and how being made to feel welcome and included was a gamechanger.

Our Scottish EDGE Panel included 3 award winners who shared some of their entrepreneurial journey so far including Jacine Rutasikwa who became the UK’s first Black Female owned distillery through Matugga Distillers, Antoinette Fionda-Douglas, Co-Founder of Beira who are tackling the climate crisis through sustainable high end fashion and how young people are given a chance to grow through a non profit Hair and Beauty Academy Brave Strong Beautiful founding by the awesome Kerry Anderson.

A fun and insightful day of networking and fundraising ended with live music from the talented Brooke Combe.

Thanks again to everyone who joined in, from our host Alison Walker and Auctioneer Alex Fleming to our supporters and sponsors. Interested in learning more about the event and how to get involved next year? Get in touch with Rebecca Hook on [email protected].
